Furniture Rental FAQs

What's your minimum rental period?
We don't have a minimum rental period, however, we do have a minimum rental charge of one month.

Can I buy the furniture?
All of our furniture is available to buy. You can either purchase outright as opposed to renting, or on expiration of your rental contract, you can purchase the goods at a discount which will be discussed at the time.

How quick can you deliver?
Our normal turnaround time is 10-14 days.

What are your delivery times?
Our delivery times are between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm, Monday to Friday.

Do you install the rental furniture?
Yes, our team will unpack and install all items of furniture. Kitchen packs are unboxed and put away. All rubbish is removed from site.

How do I terminate my contract?
If you want to terminate your contract prior to the agreed minimum rental period, you need to let us know 14 days in advance.
If you terminate your contract prior to the agreed minimum rental period being completed, you still have to pay the balance of the rental repayments for that period.
 

Are rental items insured?
No, the rental items are not insured. This is because insurance cover is unavailable where we have no jurisdiction to ensure that the required conditions of the policy are met. As such, you are responsible for insuring the goods.
 

How and when do I pay?
Payments can be made by way of bank transfer, or cleared cheque. 
 

Do I have to hire a whole house-full of furniture?
No. We believe in allowing you to pay for just what you need. However, if you live some distance from our Edinburgh warehouse it will be expensive for us to supply just a few items for a short period. 

Is the hire furniture new?
As an expanding company we have new items continuously entering the supply chain. However all items are scrupulously checked and refurbished where necessary before re-use.

Does Furniture by SP’s furniture comply with current Furniture and Furnishings Regulations?
Yes.

Do I have to attend delivery/collection?
No, but we will need your representative to check the items to ensure they are correct.

What if I need to extend the hire period?
Monthly extension is at the existing rate but if there is a long-term commitment a discount may apply.
